If your jewelry collection could use a refresh, this fall is a great time to revisit those valuable pieces that you no longer wear. Debrah Dunner, the Potomac-based rep for Freeman’s auction house, is looking for diamonds, gemstones, vintage pieces and works by well-known designers. She’s currently booking free consultations for two upcoming jewelry and watch sales. “Our holiday sales often bring a lot of bidders,” Dunner says, “and with that comes healthy competition.” For example: In recent Freeman’s auctions, a Cartier ring, a Hermès choker and a Bulgari pendant necklace each sold in the $10,000 range; Rolex and Patek Philippe watches brought in about $7,000 apiece; retro brooches were snapped up for $4,000 and $5,000; and gold charm bracelets commanded about $2,000 each. And you never know what treasure you might be holding onto: One spectacular yellow diamond ring sold for more than $300,000. Wondering what your own jewels might be worth? Dunner offers complimentary valuations. Email ddunner@freemansauction.com or call (301) 738-0347.
