Xi’an Famous Foods, a New York fast-casual Chinese restaurant that’s known for its
“hand-ripped” noodles, is heading to Rockville’s Montrose Crossing. This will be the first Maryland location for the family-owned business, which is planning a summer opening between Rasa and Five Guys. Known for its boldly spiced, Northwestern Chinese dishes, Xi’an Famous Foods has built a loyal following with specialties like stewed pork burgers, hot-and-sour lamb dumplings, hand-ripped noodles with spicy cumin lamb, and “cold-skin” noodles with seitan. The Rockville location replaces Boardroom Salon for Men, which closed last year.

Thanks for the news. However, not interested in yet another noodle-related restaurant. Montgomery County is not attracting nicer, sit-down restaurants where you can take your family out and enjoy a well-done meal together. There are already too many Chinese, Korean and other Asian-style takeout places all over, as well as many pizza and sub places and taco places. Need new variety here and a good seafood restaurant would be great. The county has lost TGI Fridays, Applebees, Red Lobster, and other places where there was a variety of dining choices. We feel like we have to go to other states (like Virginia) to get a more balanced variety, especially for ‘dining casual’ places. A sad loss for our county.
